The Master Watershed Steward program is designed to provide individuals with in-depth knowledge of water science and natural resources. Through coursework and volunteer experiences, participants gain the tools to become effective stewards of their local watersheds.

What You’ll Do
As a Master Watershed Steward, you’ll engage in a variety of activities aimed at protecting and improving our waterways.
- Organize and participate in educational events to raise awareness about watershed issues.
- Design and maintain demonstration rain gardens to promote stormwater management.
- Organize and lead stream cleanups to remove debris and pollution.
- Plant riparian forest buffers to protect streambanks and improve water quality.
- Work with local officials to establish native meadows for habitat and water infiltration.
- Monitor streams for bacteria and other pollutants.

Time Commitment
The Master Watershed Steward program requires a commitment to both training and volunteer service.
- Time Per Session: Training sessions are approximately 2-3 hours each.

- Minimum Commitment: 20 hours of volunteer service in the first year, and 20 hours of volunteer service plus 10 hours of continuing education per year thereafter.
